The band called Fleetwood Mac was formed in London in 1967 by Peter Green, who had just left the John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and three of his good friends, Mick Fleetwood and John McvIe, also from the Mayall's band, and Jeremy Spencer, another faithful and the most complete connoisseur of the blues music that he had ever know, musical style that still came to Europe in a scarce and intermittent way. Until the mid of 1970, when Green left the band in a state of schizophrenia because of LSD, they were the most orthodox blues band arised from the British blues explosion, counting both their recordings and their live performances with the genius of Peter Green, at the time of maximum creative and interpretive maturity. His guitar along with Spencer's, and later Danny Kirwan's, have been unrepeatable, the energy and originality of Peter Green's solos left Fleetwood Mac in a stalemate after his abandonment. After that, Bob Welch, Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks took over, but this is another different story.
