Canadian Bobby Dean Blackburn, grandson of slaves, was the first black coach in the Mississauga hockey league and he's a living legend of Toronto blues, soul and R&B for the last sixty years. And he is the father of Duane, Brooke, Cory and Robert, The Blackburn Brorthers, now on the front page of Toronto roots bands, from Canada to the world. They are the ones chosen to transmit everything they learned from the family saga, their uncle Rob Green was also an advanced musician, gospel, jazz, rock and roll and rhythm and blues to which the brothers add a dose of highly contaminating funk. Sly Stone in memory, Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding in feelings, Bar-Kays, War, The Meters, and even contemporaries like The Kinsey Report. Blackburn Brothers are a sound amalgam that use the most logical instrumental resources to empower their music, guitars, organs, pianos, horn section, Duane's seductive voice and a powerful rhythm section that pave the way for them to rise as one of the most current lucid and convincing bands  that today can surprise the most curious and advanced listener. Listening to this album is a pleasant and healthy exercise in synchronization with everything that is generically defined as black music, the primordial values of soul and blues absolutely contemporary.
